Froukje Brings the House Down: Unforgettable Night of Pure Fun at Arena Lotto

After two EPs and a first album, Froukje has already managed to gain a lot of popularity. The Dutch singer only released that album, called Neozakelijk Verdriet, in January. Yet she has been on a journey with him for a while. After a trip in the spring, with a stop in De Roma, he also visited many festivals this summer. Think Rock Werchter, Suikerrock and Lowlands. This may be one of the reasons why the Lotto Arena was not sold out last night.
CHARLOT was chosen as the supporting act. The Dutch band with an English speaking repertoire came forward with background vocals that provided support when “Cosmic Connections” was used. The strong voice of singer Lotte Mulder came in from the first notes. With a new album out today, the band had some new songs to present. The appropriate “After Antwerp” again emphasized the high notes which the singer reached with ease. With quiet songs that created a mysterious and intimate atmosphere, they warmed up the audience for Froukje.
At nine o’clock, as planned, the band walked on stage. The big surprise, however, came with Froukje’s ‘magic trick’. He emerged on a smaller stage in the center of the room. With her hands on the keys, the singer released her first single “Greater Than Ik”, which was appreciated by the audience. When Froukje took the main stage, the audience became even more enthusiastic with sing-along songs like “Kwijt” and “Zonder Liedjes”. This feeling was further stimulated by Froukje encouraging those present by encouraging them to sing and jump.

The Dutch woman took time to insert some spoken intermezzos. She said, among other things, that she was at the Lotto Arena three years ago as a support act for Bazart. However, these intermediate messages did not last long, because most songs followed each other like a high-speed train. As a result, Froukje never lost the audience’s attention for a moment. Then the appropriately colored lights during “Tetris” took the song to the next level. During all this, the singer was dripping with energy. As if it was nothing, he jumped and danced across the stage. “Light and “Dark” could easily open up the voices of the viewers due to the presence of many phone lights. Froukje added the lovely message that no one had to feel alone during the show.
After Froukje left the stage to return to the center of the room, it was up to the band to give everything of themselves. These provided excellent reinforcement for the singer throughout the performance, trying to match her enthusiasm. When Froukje appeared on center stage, after all the speed, it was time for a humbling and intimate moment. Due to a lot of emotion in Froukje’s strong voice, the audience was even more impressed after “May 23”, which was evident from the cheering. The first time in the show was also at the piano. This was the first time the Netherlands performed “Give It Back” live.

After the energy returned in “17”, Froukje decided to return to the main stage by crowd surfing, where some compelling songs were performed again. The intro to “Onbezonnen” was sung very faithfully. One of the real highlights in terms of audience enthusiasm was the big hit “Ik Wil Dansen”, followed by “Drijfzand”. For example, in the latter, a beautiful version was created due to the acceleration of the chorus. Froukje and his band are able to play nicely with the tempo of the songs, creating an even better live experience and thereby adding value.
Froukje was reinforced three times by fellow S10. The first time was during “Without Face”, where S10 took center stage and the two singers interacted. She was also present as reinforcement during “Never More Regret” and “I Hate Him For You”. After this, the two singers and the band left the stage. After not waiting long, the encore round followed. This started quietly, but ended with a final call to dance. This was done on “Towards The Light” and “Nothing Between”. The latter was then finished off with fire and rainbow lights for show quality.
Froukje’s show at the Lotto Arena might not have sold out, but you didn’t notice that from the enthusiasm of the audience and the singer. With a fast pace and no less than 26 songs, Froukje conquered Antwerp yesterday. In this way, the last series of shows for now, which will continue at the end of November at AFAS Live, launched perfectly.
