Fugini brand foods are suspended by Anvisa for lack of hygiene

By suspending the manufacture and marketing of Fugini’s food, Anvisa claimed to have identified serious flaws related to hygiene, quality control and safety of raw materials, pest control, among others.

Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) determined the suspension of the manufacture, sale, distribution and use of all products that are in Fugini’s stock and produced in one of the company’s units. The measure is valid for products in stock at the factory located in Monte Alto (SP).

According to Anvisa, a health inspection at the Monte Alto factory identified serious flaws related to hygiene, quality control and safety of raw materials, pest control, traceability, among others. The measure is preventive.

The company produces tomato sauces, canned vegetables and other sauces, such as mayonnaise and mustard. Fugini claims that the inspection “generated an order to change some internal processes and procedures”. “We respect and quickly change the indicated points”, informed the company in social network.

Anvisa states that, on Thursday (30th) it will publish a resolution to determine the withdrawal from the market of the brand’s mayonnaise batches produced at the Monte Alto plant in the period from 12/20/2022 to 03/21/2023. The reason is the use of expired raw material in the manufacture of mayonnaise.

The measure determines the collection of all presentations of mayonnaise from the Fugini brand, expiring in January, February or March 2024. The ban also applies to all batches expiring in December 2023 with numbering starting with 354.

“Commercial establishments and consumers who have batches of the product should not use them and should immediately contact the company Fugini Alimentos Ltda., which will collect them,” said the agency.
The inspection was carried out jointly with the Sanitary Surveillance Center of São Paulo and the Municipal Sanitary Surveillance of Monte Alto. “These failures can impact the quality and safety of the final product”, informed Anvisa.

“The suspension of manufacturing will be valid until the company adapts the manufacturing process of its products to Good Manufacturing Practices”, said the regulatory agency.

Fugini says that products already purchased can be used

In a note, Fugini said that the inspection generated an order to change some internal processes and procedures. Fugini pointed out that there are no batches with recall and that products already purchased can be used.

Fugini’s note was released before Anvisa’s determinations.
