Gardaí have confirmed that the search for a second suspect in connection with a violent incident in County Monaghan has been stood down, while stating they are continuing to follow a definite line of enquiry.
The development follows a series of events that began shortly after 11:40am on Thursday, when plain clothes gardaí on patrol in Monaghan stopped and spoke with a man in his 20s. During the interaction, the man became violent and allegedly assaulted one of the officers before fleeing into fields.
