Bono Lands Commission Urged to Prioritize Integrity and transparency

Alhaji Sulemana Yusif, the Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, has called on the newly formed Bono Regional Lands Commission board to operate with the highest standards of integrity and transparency. He emphasized the board’s crucial role in shaping regional land policy and ensuring it aligns with national advancement goals.
The reconstituted board, representing various stakeholders including Municipal and District Assemblies, the Ghana Institute of Surveyors, Bono Regional house Chiefs, the Lands Use and Spatial Planning Authority, the Ghana Association of Farmers and Fishermen, and legal professionals, was sworn in by Ms. Joyce Boahen, a supervising high Court Judge.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Sunyani, Yusif noted the Lands Commission Act of 2008 mandates the commission to advise government institutions, District Assemblies, and traditional authorities on land use and to monitor land development according to regulations. He also urged the board to maintain transparency, professionalism, and accessibility in managing land issues within the Bono region.
Yusif added, “You are here to serve the people of the Bono Region, to safeguard their rights, and to ensure that land administration becomes efficient, fair, and accessible to all.” He also instructed the board to implement measures that would expedite land registration processes and prevent unauthorized sales and conversions of stool and family lands.

Ali Ibrahim Agyei, the board’s new chairman, pledged his commitment to leading a unified team to tackle the region’s land challenges.
