Ayuso Wins Giro Stage as Roglic Takes Overall Lead
Juan Ayuso of UAE Team Emirates-XRG secured victory in the seventh stage of the Giro d’Italia on Friday, marking his first Grand Tour stage win. Primoz Roglic now leads the general classification.
Ayuso, a 22-year-old Spaniard, surged ahead of the other general classification contenders on the final climb, finishing four seconds ahead. isaac del Toro of Mexico, also from UAE Team Emirates-XRG, came in second. Egan Bernal of Ineos Grenadiers edged out Roglic for third place.

“It’s my fourth Grand Tour. I’ve been very close [to a stage win] but I never managed to pull it off,” Ayuso said.
“To finally do it today in my first Giro d’Italia is something super special and I will always remember. I let others start attacking than when I saw my distance, I went for full gas to the finish.”
