Google I/O 2024: What to Expect from the Conference

Google has released the session schedule for its upcoming I/O 2024 conference. Attendees will be able to learn more about a variety of topics, including Android 15, Chrome OS, and Wear OS. The event will focus mainly on software and services, but surprises at the hardware level cannot be ruled out.

With Google I/O 2024 just weeks away, many are anxiously awaiting new hardware announcements. But this event is first and foremost a developer conference, and while Google may show off some new devices, most of the time will be spent on the software and the company’s vision for the future.

The detailed program of the event will be published soon and, according to Mishal Rahman, the scope of topics has expanded to cover cloud, mobile, web and, recently, artificial intelligence. In addition to news on Android 15, Chrome OS, and Gemini, a session on Wear OS will offer a look at the brand’s blueprint for the next generation of wearables.

Additionally, Google’s latest mid-range smartphone, the Pixel 8a, will make its debut at this year’s I/O. There have also been rumors recently about the possibility of Google “reintroducing” the Pixel tablet as a standalone device. Along with this, various accessories are expected to be released together. These devices are considered interesting and worthy of attention.

Those hoping for the next generation of Pixel devices will likely have to wait a little longer. New Pixel smartphones are usually announced at a separate event held towards the end of the year, when the Pixel Watch 3 is also expected to be introduced. These devices will certainly attract a lot of attention, but as mentioned before, it still takes a while of time.
