Google’s Android 15 to Introduce Force Dark Mode Feature for Apps

Foreign media such as Android Authority recently reported that Google’s upcoming mobile operating system (OS), “Android 15”, is planning to introduce a feature that forces dark mode to be applied to apps that do not support dark mode.

This was reportedly confirmed by Android OS expert Mishaal Rahman through analysis of the recently released Android 15 beta app package (APK).

Dark mode is a feature used by many users. It provides eye comfort when using the device in low-light environments and also helps with battery life. However, since not all apps support dark mode, users had no choice but to use normal mode and dark mode together. For example, Google’s Fitbit app and Amazon’s shopping app currently don’t support dark mode.

To fix this, there is currently a feature in the “Developer Options” to force dark mode to run, but when this feature is turned on, the screen often looks sloppy and letters are distorted in some apps.

The “Make all apps dark” feature gained in the Android 15 beta appears to be an improvement over the current option and has been confirmed to apply well to apps like Fitbit, IT media Phone Arena reported. Of course, if you turn off this feature, you can use it in normal mode.

Since this feature is still in development, it’s not yet clear whether it will eventually be added to the official Android 15. However, foreign media reported that the presence of this feature in the developer preview is evidence that Google is paying attention to improving dark mode.
