On the 4th, the National Association of Medical School Professors, in which all 40 medical schools participate, urged the government to clearly disclose supporting data and meeting minutes in response to the government’s announcement on recruitment numbers of medical schools for next year.

According to the medical community, the Korean Medical Association held a press conference at the main auditorium of Seoul National University College of Medicine on this day and announced it.

The Korean Medical Association said: “The Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Ministry of Education must submit to the judiciary thousands of pages of data and meeting minutes that are correct, scientific, peer-reviewed and created by countless medical experts, and make them public.” to the public.”

In relation to the medical community’s request to suspend the implementation of the medical school quota increase, the Seoul High Court ruled that the government has submitted scientific data for the increase of 2,000 students by the 10th of this month , data from investigations including on-site inspections, and meeting minutes relating to distribution by university, and cited the court’s decision. It was requested not to proceed with any procedure until the decision had been made.

In this regard, the Association of Korean Medical Schools said: “The judiciary has taken note of the warning of the Association of Korean Medical Schools that there is a high risk of poor education when the number of students increases by 2,000 ”. and the Korean Council for University Education ignored the court’s decision on the 2nd and closed the medical school without providing any data. He stressed: “The status of the recruitment proposals has been made public.”

“This is an admission that the increase and distribution of 2,000 people was the result of behind-the-scenes collusion,” he said. “Following medical and educational corruption, the government is now making a mockery of the judiciary by ignoring the court’s decision to hide it,” she added.

In cooperation with the Korean Medical Association, the Association plans to gather 30 to 50 domestic and foreign experts to verify the validity, budget and investment reality of the model to estimate the number of doctors, analyze government-based data and then make it public.

In relation to this, Park Min-soo, Second Vice Minister of Health and Welfare, stated the previous day: “We will organize and produce all the data requested by the court,” and added: “The list of quotas allocated to schools of medicine committees will be decided after deliberation because it is necessary to protect those who participated in the decision-making process,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bae Jang-hwan, chairman of the emergency response committee at Chungbuk National University Hospital and Medical College, said at a seminar held by the Korean Medical Association on the same day: “If the number of students of the medical faculty were to increase to 200, we can build four times as many hospitals.” He added: “We only have to give 2.4 trillion won to our hospital.”

The number of students at Chungbuk National University’s medical faculty increased by 151, from 49 to 200. This indirectly criticized the government’s policy by pointing out how much investment would be needed if the number of students increased as announced by the government.

Professor Bae met with reporters after the event and said: “Discussions from the beginning are an essential condition for dialogue with the government, but even if the surge of troops stops, the return of 100% of residents and medical students would be difficult,” Adding: “(If they don’t come back) next year.” He expressed concern that “doctors and specialists will not be produced, teaching hospitals will collapse and people will suffer.”
