Sorry, please use a different browser. May closure civil gas rate increase ‘postponed for now’ due to rising prices

The government considered raising civil gas rates in May, but decided to postpone it for now.

According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the government has recently notified Korea Gas Corporation to “apply the current rates for wholesale supply costs for residential and general use until further notice.”

Given the financial crisis of Korea Gas Corporation, a rate increase is inevitable, but this is because the pressure to increase prices has increased, with the inflation rate showing an increase of 3.1% in the consecutive months from February to March this year , increasing the burden of raising utility rates.

The government’s position is that since the decision has been postponed this time, additional progress can be made in the future when necessary.
