Government Provides Support to Young Workers in Small and Medium-Sized Businesses

The government is providing up to 2 million won in support to young people employed in small and medium-sized businesses in industries with vacancies, including manufacturing.

The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced on the 22nd that it will start accepting applications for youth grants to fill positions this year. The Job Filling Youth Support Fund was re-established this year to address the workforce shortage in small and medium-sized businesses in the job vacancies industry and to reduce the wage gap between large and small businesses. 1 million earned is paid every 3 and 6 months after joining the company.

Eligible for assistance are young people aged between 15 and 34 who have been employed full-time in small and medium enterprises, such as manufacturing companies, since October 1 last year and have worked for more than three months. However, veterans can apply up to age 39 in proportion to their length of service. Support that overlaps with other government projects may also be provided.

Vacant industries other than manufacturing include the restaurant industry, agriculture, shipping, and fisheries. Detailed information, including a list of companies eligible for assistance, can be found on the Ministry of Labor (moel.go.kr ) or the Employment 24 (work24.go.kr) website.

When the target number of applicants for each application period is reached, the application will automatically end.

The government plans to provide job filling youth grants to 24,800 young people this year.
