Green boss in the heating dispute with Kretschmer: “Methods that scare”

Michael Kretschmer sees an “uproar among the population” because of the traffic light’s climate policy. Omid Nouripour denies this.

Green leader Omid Nouripour has sharply criticized the Saxon Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) for his statements on climate policy. “Anyone who speaks of rebellion because of climate protection measures is talking about rebellion,” Nouripour said at a press conference. “These are methods that scare, that are supposed to scare.”

Kretschmer had said in the “Bild am Sonntag” about the climate protection plans of the traffic light coalition that they were “annulling the balance between economy, ecology and social issues”. The government’s plans led to “de-industrialization and popular turmoil”.

Kretschmer criticized the traffic light government’s heating law

Nouripour sharply rejected this. “It is right and necessary to argue about the right way in a democracy, that can also be exaggerated,” said the Greens leader. “However, it is simply irresponsible, I would even say indecent, to jeopardize the cohesion of society in the way Mr. Kretschmer does.”

Above all, Kretschmer had criticized the traffic light heating law. It was done “with a crowbar”. “Many citizens will simply not be able to afford the required conversion of their house or apartment. Landlords and housing companies are also sounding the alarm,” said Saxony’s Prime Minister.

“The energy transition will become unaffordable for the citizens and politicians will lose a large part of the population as a result.” Because of the climate policy, there will be massive relocations of companies away from Germany.
