Grimsby Town Football Club has acknowledged a registration error concerning a player during their recent FA Cup victory against Manchester United. The club self-reported the issue to the English Football League (EFL),who determined the mistake was unintentional.
According to a Grimsby Town statement reported by the BBC on March 21, 2024, the registration was submitted less than one minute after the deadline due to a technical problem wiht the club’s computer system. BBC News reported the details of the incident and the club’s explanation.

Following the match, some Manchester United supporters called for the game to be replayed or Grimsby’s win to be forfeited.
