As of mid-December 2025, indonesia’s national complete infant immunization coverage stands at 68.6%, while coverage for the full 14-antigen immunization schedule reaches 66.2%. The Ministry of Health acknowledges these figures highlight the urgent need to accelerate and equalize immunization services across the archipelago.
Immunization as a Fundamental Right
Dr. Indri Yogyaswari, Director of Immunization at the Directorate General of Disease control, Ministry of Health, stressed that immunization is a fundamental right of every Indonesian child, legally guaranteed and central to national health development. She made these remarks during a National Immunization Program Media Briefing in Jakarta on Friday,December 19,2025.
Immunization is a right of every child that must be fulfilled. Immunization not only protects individuals from risky diseases, but also protects society by preventing the transmission of infectious diseases.
A history of Immunization Successes
Indonesia has a long-standing commitment to immunization, spanning over 50 years. This dedication has yielded important public health achievements, including the eradication of smallpox, certification as polio-free (regarding wild poliovirus), and the elimination of maternal and neonatal tetanus. Currently, the National Immunization Program encompasses 14 antigens.
