[천지일보 광주=서영현 기자] The Gwangsan Police Station of Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 25th that it had implemented traffic management to prevent traffic accidents and minimize inconvenience due to heavy snow.

In the Gwangsan-gu area, where the heavy snow warning was issued, heavy snow of over 25 cm has fallen in the last three days. Mining police mobilized traffic police officers and deployed them at major intersections and uphill icy sections, spraying loaded calcium chloride on patrol vehicles and conducting vehicle diversion measures and directing traffic.

Furthermore, a hotline has been established with the Gwangsan-gu Office to share icy and congested sections in real time and carry out rapid snow removal operations.

Over the past two days, large and small accidents have occurred due to snowslides, but fortunately there have been no serious casualties.

Additionally, traffic control was implemented in areas where passage was impassable due to ice formation, including managing traffic accident sites and helping move vehicles stopped on steep roads due to cold and of heavy snow, such as Mujin-daero and the Jingok industrial complex.

The head of the Gwangsan Metropolitan City Safety and Transportation Division (Seongpil Moon) said: “We will continue to do our best to actively eliminate risk factors caused by heavy snowfall and minimize inconvenience to citizens.”
