Erling Haaland reached a significant milestone for Manchester City, scoring his 153rd goal for the club and moving into a tie for fourth place on their all-time scorer’s list, as Pep Guardiola’s team defeated Fulham 3-0. The victory narrowed the gap to Premier League leaders Arsenal to just three points.
Antoine Semenyo opened the scoring for City, continuing a strong start to his time with the club, while Nico O’Reilly also found the back of the net in a dominant first-half performance played amidst persistent rain. Haaland did not return for the second half, having seemingly done enough damage in the first 45 minutes.
Elsewhere in the Premier League, Liverpool secured a 1-0 victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, ending the Black Cats’ unbeaten run in the league. Virgil van Dijk scored the decisive goal, heading home a corner delivered by Mohamed Salah in the 61st minute.
Burnley staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Crystal Palace 3-2, ending a 16-game winless streak in the Premier League and spoiling the Selhurst Park debut of Jorgen Strand Larsen. Palace had initially taken a 2-0 lead through Strand Larsen, who scored twice, but Burnley responded with goals from Hannibal Mejbri, Jaidon Anthony, and an own goal from Jefferson Lerma.
Aston Villa edged past Brighton with a 1-0 win, courtesy of a late own goal from Jack Hinshelwood. The victory moved Villa within six points of Arsenal in the title race and strengthened their position in the race for Champions League qualification. James Milner also made history during the match, equalling Gareth Barry’s record for most Premier League appearances with 653.
Nottingham Forest and Wolves played out a 0-0 draw at the City Ground, a result that leaves Forest boss Sean Dyche under increasing pressure. Forest dominated the match, registering 35 shots on goal, but were unable to find a breakthrough. The draw moves Forest three points clear of the relegation zone, but represents a missed opportunity to create a larger cushion.
The results add further intrigue to the Premier League title race, with Arsenal, Manchester City, and Aston Villa all vying for the top spot. Liverpool’s win also boosts their chances of securing a Champions League place, while Burnley’s comeback victory offers a glimmer of hope in their fight against relegation.
