On the 14th, Han Dong-hoon, chairman of the Emergency Response Committee of the People’s Power Party, visited the Nakdong River Belt, one of the biggest battlegrounds in the April general election, and appealed to voters to ask for support.
President Han visited Gupo Market in Buk-gu, Busan on this day. The program included local candidate Rep. Seo Byeong-soo, Kim Do-eup (Gangseo-gu), Joo Jin-woo (Haeundae Gap), Jang Ye-chan (Sooyeong), Baek Jong-heon (Geumjeong) and Cho Seung -hwan (Jung-do). President Han, who walked through the market and stood at the podium across the street, greeted citizens by making a V with his fingers meaning “sign number 2.”
President Han said, “I won’t participate in this election, but you can choose me. If you choose Joo Jin-woo, Jang Ye-chan, Kim Do-eup, etc., you will choose me.”
Then he asked: “Do you want me to take responsibility for your lives and enter politics after April? So please choose the people here. “I will be with you,” he said.
In a meeting with traders at Gupo Market, President Han said, “We really want to do well for Busan” and “Politics is a matter of allocating scarce resources, but we are ready to do our best for Busan.” To the trader I met at the greengrocer he said: “I’m sorry that prices have increased so much. “I’d better check the prices,” he said.
President Han later began targeting voters in the “Nakdong River Belt,” including Saha-gu in Busan and Gimhae in Gyeongsangnam-do. The Nakdong River Belt refers to the constituencies of Seobusan and Gyeongnam regions bordering the Nakdong River. In the previous general election, the Democratic Party won five of these nine constituencies. In this general election, the number of seats in Nakdong River Belt increased to 10 as a division of Busan constituency. The People Power Party is trying to win back the party by deploying party leaders in Bukganseo-gap in Busan, Yangsan in Gyeongsangnam-do and Gimhae-eul, where the Democratic Party is currently active.
