(Mokpo = Yonhap News) Reporter Jo Geun-young = The Lee Nan-young & Kim Sisters Museum (Mokpo-si, Jeollanam-do) announced on the 31st that it will hold a musical concert ‘Mokpo is the origin of k-POP’ on the afternoon of November 2nd at the Yudalsan Barrier-Free Sharing Trail.

The concert breaks away from the concept of an indoor performance and is held in a unique format, with nature as the audience, without a stage, in the cypress forest of Mt. Yudal.

The concert, which will be held under the theme of ‘Perfume and tears are filtered and bloom into songs,’ will brilliantly revive the dramatic story and songs of Lee Nan-young’s growth of the Kim Sisters and the Kim Sisters’ success as the originator of K-pop. Well, it’s ready.

Prior to the opening, the song ‘Mokpo’s Tears’ sung by Lee Nan-young will be arranged in English, German, and French versions to create a global platform, which is the keystone of K-pop.

The plan is to capture the life of singer Lee Nan-young from Mokpo and the growth process of the Kim Sisters, the original K-pop artists, through music, and explore the global direction of Mokpo in terms of music history to shed new light on the content called ‘Mokpo, the original K-pop’.

The Kim Sisters are a girl group that made a big splash in the United States 60 years ago, prior to the success of the globally popular K-pop group BTS.

Lee Nan-young formed her daughter and niece into a ‘female vocal group’ and developed it into the originator of K-pop, which promoted Korea globally since the 1950s.

Accordingly, Lee Nan-young’s hometown, Mokpo, can be said to be the K-pop hometown.

The Lee Nan-young & Kim Sisters Museum opened in June 2020 at the artist’s house and conducts academic research and musical activities on Lee Nan-young and the Kim Sisters.

The museum exhibits a total of 100 items, including Lee Nan-young’s materials donated by Kim Sisters leader Kim Sook-ja, the Kim Sisters’ musical instruments, stage clothes, household items, and Lee Nan-young’s son Kim Boyce’s stage clothes.
