Senior artist Suti Karno has recently been active in social activities, especially those related to the disabled community. After undergoing amputation of the foot due to diabetes complications, Suti Karno was even more enthusiastic about contributing to others, especially children with disabilities.
Suti Karno admitted that her life was now more filled with gratitude even in the midst of physical limitations.
“Yes, very grateful. We must be grateful, always grateful. That my feet are amputated not to decide on my movements. Even without legs, but he moved with my heart,” said Suti Karno, met at the Trans TV studio, Mampang, South Jakarta, yesterday.

Suti also told her dream for a long time to have a social foundation. Now, his desire is increasingly pursed on special attention to children with disabilities.
“I used to really want to have an orphanage, have a foundation. But at that time it was only an orphan. Well, after I hung out with children with disabilities, I would like to have a special orphanage for them. May God give the way, just bismillah. If our intentions are good, God will definitely give way,” he said hopefully.
In carrying out her social activities, Suti was not alone. He claimed to be designing programs that will run next year, although still keep the details a secret.
“We are designed and coincidentally for the next year we have already designed it. Later, Ma’am, still confidential,” he said with a smile.
Regarding funding, Suti claimed not to depend on personal funds, but rather looking for sponsors and received donations from generous.
“We are looking for sponsors themselves. There are also good people who make donations. Only the obstacles we do not have a special place, so in the meantime children still live in other orphanages,” he said.
Suti Karno also collaborated with various Extraordinary Schools (SLB) in the Greater Jakarta area, including SLB Nusantara in Depok.
“He is very ready to be our fostered. Almost all of my events are included in them. I told to practice new songs, new dance, so that they are not only displayed. But yes they are capable,” he said.
Not only limited to formal relationships, Suti’s closeness to disabled children also transformed into emotional relationships. He even often invited them to personal events.
“There is a group of down syndrome children whose parents are also active. We invite everywhere. Like yesterday there was a marriage of my friend’s children, I invited, instead they were entertaining. With their innocence, even though they were adults, they could still cheer up with their dancing and play,” he said.
As an artist, Suti could not escape from the stage world. He even has a unique dream that wants to be realized with his fostered disabled children.
“My dream is, really I can make lenong times. Funny times. Heeh, hopefully. We are trying there,” he concluded.
