Heavy rain overnight, likely in all districts; Orange alert in 3 districts and yellow in 8 districts

Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rain is likely in the state in the next few hours. The Central Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of rain at isolated places in all the districts of Kerala till 11 pm. Meanwhile, orange alert continues in 3 districts and yellow alert in 8 districts as issued earlier. The alert has been issued in the districts except Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta. Orange alert in Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. Yellow alert continues in Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Wayanad districts.

Monsoon monsoons are caused by the low pressure formed over Odisha and the low pressure trough from Maharashtra coast to Karnataka coast. Fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea due to the possibility of severe storm surge.

09-07-2022: Central Meteorological Department has announced orange alert in Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. Chance of heavy rain at isolated places is predicted. Very Heavy Rainfall means 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm of rain in 24 hours, according to the Meteorological Department.

The Central Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert due to the possibility of heavy rains in the following districts. Heavy rainfall means rainfall between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
The Central Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in some districts, but as there is a possibility of isolated heavy thundershowers in the hilly areas, caution should be exercised similar to the orange alert in the hilly areas which have received heavy rains in the past few days.
