Due to the war started by Russia, many Ukrainians were forced to leave their homes and become internally displaced persons (IDPs). IDPs receive financial assistance from the state. In August, the National Social Service began checking the actual place of residence of IDPs receiving government assistance. The Ministry of Reintegration told us what to do if an inspection came and the displaced person was not at home.

The department noted that verification of the place of residence of displaced persons must be reported two days in advance.

It can be made on the basis of:

information on registration of persons as internally displaced within one territorial community; receiving notification from state authorities, local government, enterprises, institutions, public associations or individuals about a change in the actual location of IDPs; verification results in accordance with the criteria for assigning assistance.

The Ministry of Reintegration explained that in order to prevent the termination of payments to IDPs who are absent during the inspection, they must contact the Department of Social Protection of the Population (USPP) within 14 days.

“And if there are justified reasons for absence, provide supporting documents to the USZN within 30 days,” the message says.

It is also necessary to inform the USZN if the IDP has changed the place of actual residence or contact telephone number or has not indicated the apartment number.

We previously wrote about what has changed for internally displaced persons since September 1.
