Preventive Early Warning for Winds in O’Higgins Region
The Regional Directorate of the National Disaster Prevention and Response Service (SENAPRED) has issued a Preventive Early Warning for winds in the O’Higgins region, effective from Monday, September 16, until further notice.
According to the Chilean Meteorological Directorate (DMC), weather warnings are currently in force for the region, with normal to moderate winds expected on the coast from Wednesday, September 18, to Thursday, September 19. SENAPRED reports that normal to moderate winds are expected on the same days, with a probability of white winds in the mountain area.
SENAPRED has declared a state of strengthened surveillance, monitoring risk conditions and associated vulnerabilities. The organization is prepared to respond promptly to any emergency situations that may arise.
Avoid Fires on National Holidays
Marcelo Montesinos, director of SENAPRED in O’Higgins, explained that two weather warnings have been issued for the coastal and coastal mountain areas, where white winds are expected. The entire coastal area, including the region’s coastal mountain range, will experience normal to moderate winds.
Montesinos warned that the current frontal system brings a probability of white winds, which can reduce visibility. He recommended that the population avoid visiting the Cordillera area during this time.
Additionally, Montesinos advised against staying under electrical wires and recommended that families take precautions when having barbecues during the National Holidays. He emphasized the importance of avoiding sparks that could ignite forest fires or structural fires, as the wind conditions are unfavorable.
