How much did the amount of the Family Allowance increase?

Review what these two important benefits provided by the government are about.

Congress approved on Monday a series of economic measures proposed by the President Gabriel Boric, which included the increase in the amount of the Single Family Subsidy and the Family Assignment Bonus.

Family Assignment Bonus:

The Family Allowance, also known only as Family, gives the right to receive, for each accredited family burden, a sum of money that varies according to the beneficiary’s salary.

Payment of this benefit is made monthly to pensioners, men and women, and dependent workers affiliated with a pension system (AFP and former pension funds, merged into the Social Security Institute, IPS).

After the approval of the increase proposed by the Executive, the Family Allowance bonus will have a permanent increase of 20%.

The new amounts are as follows:

  • First tranche: increases from $16,828 to $20,328 per load, for those who have a monthly income of up to $429,899.
  • Second tranche: increases from $10,327 to $12,475 per load, for those with a monthly income greater than $429,899 and not exceeding $627,913.
  • Third tranche: increases from $3,264 to $3,943 per load, for those with a monthly income greater than $627,913 and not exceeding $979,330.
  • Those who exceed that last amount will not be able to receive the allowance.

When and how is the Family Allowance money paid?

  • Workers and dependent workers: it is paid by the employer, and is included in the salary.
  • Independent workers who issue fee receipts: in the tax return of the year following the year in which the charges were declared.
  • Self-employed workers and independent workers: when they make their contributions or contributions.
  • Retired men and women: the entity that delivers the pension (AFP or IPS) pays.
  • People subsidized for unemployment: it is paid together with the subsidy.
