How much is your insurance premium going up? Will I not receive a pension?

In fact, the most curious thing about the national pension is how much more you will have to pay in the future, and how much you can get later.

Let’s go through one on one with reporters.

Reporter Lee Jun-beom covering the Ministry of Health and Welfare is out.

Reporter Lee, National Pension Insurance premiums, I don’t think there are many people who think they are paying less.

However, there were forecasts that it should be raised in this way 17% and 20%.

It’s not really going to be like this, is it?

That much is necessary when only the insurance rate is charged is just a guess.

The government seems to think it is realistic to raise this level to this level.

Therefore, apart from raising insurance premiums, several options are being discussed.

These are things like paying insurance premiums longer or receiving pensions a little later.

For the government, the burden on future generations is heavier than the survey five years ago, rather than the figure itself.

This is why pension reform is so urgent, so we focus on conveying this meaning.

If you raise your insurance premium, you will pay more, and you cannot get a pension later.

I think this type of anxiety is especially common among young people.

Could it really be?

◀ Reporter ▶

As funds run out, the figures published today are only figures based on current conditions.

The government and experts confirm that the fund will never really end.

Unlike private insurance, the national pension is a public pension guaranteed by the state, so unless the state disappears, there is no way to get a pension.

Therefore, at the moment, pensions are paid within the fund, but the state can inject tax money into the fund if necessary.

Some people may be concerned that the national pension is overspending.

It is around 2050, when the national pension is expected to end, and at this time, the national pension expenditure is only 6.8% of the total gross domestic product (GDP).

Many experts consider this level manageable given the size of our economy.

Think there’s nothing you can’t have?

Now, the results of the inspection of the financial situation of the national pension came out today.

Then the reformation will speed up a bit.

In which direction are the discussions going at the moment?

◀ Reporter ▶

Yes, there is currently a special committee on pension reform in the National Assembly.

Based on the results of the government’s calculations published today, we intend to present a draft of the special reform committee within this month.

There is no disagreement in the special pensions committee that the insurance premium rate should be raised from the current 9%.

However, opinions differ as to how much and to what extent this 9% should be raised.

The issue is also what to do with the money you get.

Those who value financial stability want to keep the money they receive as it is, while those who emphasize old age security need to raise the amount of benefits as well as the insurance premium rate.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see where it goes.

In fact, the pension reform plan was announced in 2018, but the reform was ultimately stopped due to strong opposition.

It is also worth noting this time, whether a social consensus can be reached.

It is a complex and difficult problem.

Yes, Reporter Lee Jun-beom, I heard you well.
