Humanity & Inclusion has opened applications for an Area Manager to direct humanitarian projects across Petit Nord-Kivu in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, managing operations from bases in Mweso or Goma amid a complex security environment.
Operational Scope Across Petit Nord-Kivu
The organization has operated in the Democratic Republic of the Congo since 1995, maintaining a presence as an assistance and logistics actor. In Petit Nord-Kivu—covering Goma, Mweso, Kitchanga, and surrounding zones—the incoming Area Manager will oversee a portfolio that addresses population movements, active conflict, and access constraints.
The position requires direct supervision of three primary project managers and their teams. These include the IFSAN stimulation therapy initiative, the CDCS project focused on rehabilitation, mental health, psychosocial support, protection, and income-generating activities, and the DGD-H initiative covering protection, safe school approaches, and explosive ordnance risk education via a local partner.
Beyond direct project oversight, the role involves supporting the ATLAS Logistique project in Goma for zone coordination, access, and representation, though without direct management of the ATLAS team. The selected candidate will report directly to the Program Director to guide strategy, funding proposals, donor relations, and partnerships with local NGOs, authorities, and organizations representing disabled persons.
Applicants Need Project Management Experience for International Contract
Applicants must possess at least four years of project management experience in a similar role as a field coordinator with an international NGO. Candidates need a background in intervention diagnostics, strategy writing, team management, external representation, and multidisciplinary teamwork.
The position is structured as a 24-month international contract based primarily in Mweso or Goma, involving regular travel throughout Petit Nord-Kivu under volatile security conditions. The compensation package starts at a gross monthly salary of 2,869 euros, supplemented by a net monthly per diem of 684 euros and a 500-euro net hardship allowance.
Additional benefits include 25 days of paid annual leave, five days of rest and recuperation every eight weeks, medical coverage, repatriation insurance, and welfare protection. The role is unaccompanied, with transport, visas, and collective housing provided by the organization, alongside a local package for country residents.
