Dubai – Sunrisers Hyderabad unexpectedly bought Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hazaranga in the Indian Premier League star auction. Sunrisers brought the Lankan player into the team for a base price of 1.5 crores. Hazaranga joined Hyderabad for the 2024 season without much of a challenge.
Hyderabad team owner Kavya Maran who attended the auction was also happy after getting the target player at a small price. Kavya’s reaction when Hazaranga joined the team went viral on social media. The player has taken 35 wickets in 26 matches in three seasons. Vanindu Hasaranga is the player who scored most runs and most wickets in the last Lankan Premier League.
Pat Cummins, the captain of Australia’s ODI World Cup winning team, was brought into the Hyderabad team for a huge sum. Solar collectors paid Rs 20.5 crore for Cummins. Hyderabad have also acquired World Cup final hero Travis Head for Rs 6.80 crore.
