It is reported that unusual skin symptoms are appearing among people infected with the Omicron mutation in the UK.

According to foreign media such as The Mirror magazine and Daily Express on the 9th (local time), ZOE, a UK-based COVID-19 symptom research group, announced that skin rash symptoms were confirmed in many Omicron infections in the UK.

According to Joy, symptoms appear in three main types.

First, it is a bumpy and itchy type similar to sweat spots. This type can appear anywhere on the body, but is especially common on the elbows, hands, and feet and lasts from several days to several weeks.

The second type is characterized by appearing and disappearing faster than the first type. It is said that honeycomb-shaped bumps protrude and appear similar to hives.

The third type is similar to frostbite, with small purple or red bumps appearing on the skin. However, it is characterized by a sting and not tickling, and it was found more commonly in young people.

“There were cases where only these skin symptoms appeared among those infected with Omicron, who did not show any other symptoms,” Mirror magazine said.

Earlier in December last year, at a briefing by the South African Ministry of Health, Dr. Unben Piley said, “One clear symptom of Omicron is ‘night sweats’.”

Dr Amir Khan of the British National Health Service (NHS) also said, “If you sweat enough to get your bedding and clothes soaked at night, you should watch it carefully as a sign of Omicron’s confirmation.”

Unlike the existing coronavirus, which is known for its main symptoms such as fever, cough, muscle pain, headache, fatigue, and reduced sense of smell and taste, no specific symptoms related to Omicron have been known so far.

However, as the number of Omicron confirmed cases has increased recently, common symptoms such as ‘night sweats’ and ‘skin rash’ are being observed among the infected.

Meanwhile, in Korea, it is predicted that Omicron will become the dominant species starting with the Lunar New Year holiday.
