New delhi has distanced itself from a Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) statement that condemned recent Israeli strikes on Iran. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) clarified that India did not participate in the discussions that led to the SCO’s remarks.
The MEA reiterated India’s independent position on the tensions between Israel and Iran,initially expressed on June 13,and renewed its call for calm and diplomatic solutions. the ministry urged the use of dialogue and diplomacy to de-escalate the situation, emphasizing the importance of international community efforts in this direction.
External Affairs Minister S jaishankar also communicated India’s concerns directly to his Iranian counterpart in a recent conversation.
