Indian football clubs shadowed by match-fixing controversy; CBI has started an investigation

New Delhi: CBI probe against five clubs in Indian football match-fixing scandal. The CBI visited the All India Football Federation headquarters in Delhi and conducted an inspection. The CBI has informed that the investigation is focusing on I League teams.

The investigation has started in connection with the international match-fixing agent, Wilson Raj Perumal. The CBI has received information that Wilson, who is based in Singapore, has invested crores in five clubs in India. Information about the clubs has not been released. The I-League teams are in doubt. There are indications that Indian Arrows, which was an AIFF club, is also in the group. CBI sought clarification from all five clubs.

The contract with the players, sponsors, foreign players, employees of the technical department and other information was requested to be presented. AIFF General Secretary Shaji Prabhakaran said the clubs had been asked to co-operate with the investigation. He said the federation would not compromise in any way with match-fixing and would cooperate with the investigation.
