[OSEN=서정환 기자] Indonesia has no doubts that coach Shin Tae-yong will advance to the Olympics in Paris.

Indonesia’s national under-23 football team, led by coach Shin Tae-yong, will face Guinea, which is ranked fourth in Africa, in the ‘Paris 2024 Olympic Men’s Football’ held in Clairefontaine, France at 10 pm on the 9th (Korea time).

It is a one-off game where the winning team will progress to the Olympic Games in Paris. Indonesia is seeking to advance to the Olympic finals for the first time in 68 years since the 1956 Melbourne Olympics.

Indonesia lost 0-2 to Uzbekistan in the semi-finals of the 2024 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U23 Asian Cup. Indonesia, who were pushed to 3rd and 4th place, lost 1-2 to Iraq and failed to advance advanced directly to the Olympics and fell to the play-offs.

The opinion is not bad. Guinea is on a downward trend with 1 draw and 3 losses in the last 4 games. Guinea, who drew 1-1 with Ghana in the ‘Cup of Nations under 23’, fell to Egypt (lost 0-1) and Mali (lost 3-4 on penalties after 0-0) in succession. Guinea also lost 0-3 in a friendly against the United States on March 23.

Indonesian captain and central defender Rizki Ridinyu will be absent due to accumulated cautions. Coach Shin Tae-yong recruited substitute defender Alfeandra Dewanga. He arrived in France on the 7th and joined the team.

Indonesian newspaper ‘Boy’ said, “Shin Tae-yong replaced the claim that he could not play in the playoffs. Dewanga joined the training from the day he arrived in France. “It will help our defense a lot,” he said.

Coach Shin Tae-yong, before the final match, said, “Now it’s the real finals. Although the players were very tired, they were psychologically well armed. He vowed to progress to the Olympics, saying, “I will definitely write a new history with my organizational skills at the forefront.” / jasonseo34@osen.co.kr
