Power crisis intensifies in Pakistan Pakistan’s reluctance to pay China is due to an obligation imposed during Imran’s rule. It is reported that the Shahbaz government has no idea how it will pay off. The main reason is the closure of power plants built by China in Pakistan. Currently, the capital city is in darkness for 6 hours without power.
Pakistan owes a huge amount. In the current economic climate, the Islamabad government will not be able to pay them off in the near future. Pakistan has borrowed 300 billion rupees.
Pakistan has been barred from providing financial assistance, including to the International Monetary Fund. Foreign aid can only be accepted if Pakistan gets a waiver on the anti-terrorism economic control rules. Pakistan is making a concerted effort to get rid of them as they are currently on the list.
