Sorry, please use a different browser. US Lunar Exploration Company: “Moon probe landed successfully… Weak signal captured”

Intuitive Machines, an American private space company, announced that its lunar probe “Odysseus” successfully landed on a crater near the South Pole of the Moon at 8:24 am today (23rd), Korean time.

The company said it had difficulty communicating with the spacecraft for a while after the scheduled landing time, but that “a weak signal was picked up by the Odysseus antenna” about 10 minutes later.

It’s been about a week since Odysseus launched into space on the 15th, making it the first time an American spacecraft has reached the moon in about 52 years since Apollo 17 in December 1972.

Notably, it became the first private company in the world, not a government agency, to record a successful soft landing on the moon.
