(CNN) As of the 20th, it was learned that the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating an unusual approach between two passenger planes on the same runway at Reagan National Airport in Washington, DC, which at one time threatened to cause and collision.

The two planes came to a stop after coming within about 400 feet (about 122 meters) of each other, avoiding a fatal crash. Screams were heard inside the control tower to stop both planes from taking off or traveling.

The two planes were Southwest Airlines, which was going to a different runway, and JetBlue Airlines, which was in the process of taking off. According to data from Flightradar 24, a website that tracks aircraft flight status, the front end of the Southwest plane even crossed the runway.

According to a recording on the aviation radio site “Live ATC,” around 7:40 a.m. local time on the 18th, an air traffic controller in charge of takeoff and landing operations approved a JetBlue plane to take off using “Runway 4.” .

At about the same time, another air traffic controller who was responsible for taxiing the Southwest plane cleared to cross the runway and go to another runway.

About 30 seconds later, a cry went up inside the two control towers, pleading for both planes to take off and stop their flight.

The Boston-bound JetBlue flight then returned to its designated location on Runway 4 and took off. Southwest Airlines also left for Orlando as scheduled after receiving instructions to cross the same runway and go to another runway.
