IPhone 17 Launch: Apple Live Event Details
Rumored iPhone Air to Prioritize Thinness, Replace Plus Model
Apple is expected to unveil a new iPhone “Air” model alongside it’s standard iPhone lineup. The Air, a name previously reserved for Apple’s MacBook line, signals a focus on ultra-thin design. This new model is rumored to replace the “Plus” variant, offering a different approach to the large-screen iPhone.
Compromises for Thinness
To achieve a rumored thickness of just 5.5 mm, the iPhone Air may incorporate a hybrid titanium and aluminum frame. However, this design choice could necessitate compromises in other areas. The rear camera is expected to be a single 48-megapixel lens, and battery life could be a concern with an estimated capacity of around 2,800 mAh.
Future Innovations
The introduction of the iPhone Air could mark the beginning of a new cycle of innovation for Apple. Some sources speculate about a foldable iPhone as early as 2026, with further revolutionary designs potentially arriving for the company’s 20th-anniversary iPhone in 2027. As of September 9, 2025, Apple is also anticipated to release updates to the Apple Watch and AirPods Pro alongside the new iPhones.
