IPTime AX7800M-6E Router: The Ultimate Wi-Fi 6E Powerhouse

Properly supports communication with up to 8 antennas

Quad core MediaTek with large memory capacity!

A router that supports everything, including the full version’s EasyMesh support.

Electronic products live in an era of “overspecification.” Consumers no longer find phrases like faster smartphones and clearer monitors very appealing. That’s because we live in an era where hardware is excellent enough to overcome consumer frustration.

At least for PCs, especially gaming-related graphics cards and memory, spec sales are still an effective market. However, there is one market where it makes sense to announce a new product with “faster speed”, perhaps forever, and that is the internet. One or two routers are a necessity in every home and their competitive advantage is first and foremost speed.

IPTime, which has almost a monopoly on the Korean market, has released a new product after a long time. IPTime is famous for its aggressive new product launches. By releasing numerous products with similar specifications and not very different designs, consumers often had a choice. This time we are ready to give you problems with Wi-Fi 6E.

IPTime, which was considered a somewhat passive move into the Wi-Fi 6E market, has returned to the market after a long time with a model called ‘AX7800M-6E’. MediaTek, rather than Realtek, which has long been used for both higher and lower models, was chosen to appeal to Wi-Fi 6E’s 6GHz channel, which provides more than twice as many channels as the 5GHz that we are familiar with.

Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E essentially work on the same Wi-Fi standard, but Wi-Fi 6E provides a new frequency band ranging from 5.925 GHz to 7.125 GHz, allowing for an additional 1.2 MHz of spectrum. Expanding the spectrum means having greater bandwidth and reducing interference. As interference decreases, speed naturally increases and latency decreases, allowing for immediate use of the network.

The first thing you notice when you open the box are the eight antennas. As anyone who has ever used an IPTime product will know, most IPTime routers have three or four antennas. Even foreign brands like Asus and Netgear advertise premium prices and only have about 6 antennas, but the AX7800M-6E has 8, so you can guess the level this product occupies in IP Time.

**Performance measurements

▲ We measured speeds on a network up to 1 Gbps. It extracts well without losing speed.

Reflecting the increase in performance with the increase in the number of antennas, the ventilation holes have been maximized and a fan has been installed on the top of the product to enhance additional cooling performance. That’s right, the faster it goes, the more heat it generates. Furthermore, since it is predicted to be hot this summer, the psychological stability that comes from having a fan cannot be ignored. It is beneficial for your mental health to understand that the question “Is there a cooling fan on the router?” it’s because there is a reason to perform it.

The story entered Samcheonpo for a moment, so let’s leave the editorial aside and go back to the main topic and continue talking about the antenna. Increasing the number of antennas means you can establish a comfortable wireless LAN environment without interference from surrounding APs. With eight antennas, you can set up a 6GHz, 5GHz, and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network simultaneously, and each network works flawlessly. You can enjoy fast speeds at 2.4GHz in places far away from the router and 6GHz in places close by.

Instead of the 8 antennas reacting distractedly, the distribution of the antennas is very reasonable. Four antennas were deployed on 5GHz, which is the most widely used, and two antennas each were deployed on 6G and 2.4G. Thanks to this, the results of using it in the bathroom of a 30 pyeong house, which is the furthest from the router, with the door closed, show that the speed performance is good enough not to bother both 2.4GHz and at 6GHz.

**Administrator options

▲ IPTime Router Trademark Ease of Use…. If you are familiar with the administrator screen, it means you are already a user of IPTime Router. This is the strength of the IP Time router.

IPTime AX7800M-6E is free from interference not only thanks to the unique product specifications, but also thanks to IPTime’s unique MU-MIMO technology. This is a technology that eliminates speed reductions that can occur when multiple devices use the wireless LAN at the same time and is useful compared to routers that do not support MU-MIMO. The most intuitive form is the number of antennas that appear on a smartphone or laptop, but you can feel a clear difference in how quickly the antennas are filled.

As for the bonus feature, this is the full Easy Mesh version, a feature that will be appreciated by users who purchase an additional AX7800M-6E when using an existing IP Time router. You can easily setup, control and manage multiple routers as a mesh network. Since it is fully compatible with previous products, it can be a key feature for IPTime users.

If you have a gray area or want to set up a larger network, try connecting it to the AX7800M-6E lower stage instead of discarding the existing product. There may be a synergistic effect.

So why is the AX7800M-6E more powerful? It’s the CPU. Stability has been strengthened by replacing the affordable Realtek chip with the MediaTek MT7986 model, which offers a greater performance advantage, and the memory has been increased to 512MB DDR4, significantly improving the amount of Internet connections that can be connected simultaneously. If you have many wireless devices in your home or office and the simultaneous connection speed is disappointing, the AX7800M-6E could be effective.

This is because it can cover most small to medium-sized uses.

**Editor’s note

IPTime, which had taken a break from launching new products, began to show a strong presence in the high-end market with the launch of the AX7800M-6E. As the demand for high-definition video streaming and high-spec gaming continues to increase, robust networks will continue to be needed in the future. As you read this, it’s time to replace your router, but if you’ve been hesitant about mediocre products, you don’t need to worry. The IPTime AX7800M-6E clearly represents the most significant step forward at the moment.
