Iran parades troops and displays a series of weapons amid tensions with Israel

Just days after the attack on Israel, an Iranian military parade showcased a series of weapons such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), long-range ballistic missiles, and air defense systems.

According to Defense Blog, during the parade on April 17, the arsenal introduced by Iran also included a newly improved long-range air defense system called Bawar-373. This surface-to-air missile system is praised for its ability to attack air targets at a distance of more than 300km, including short-range ballistic missiles.

The Bawar-373 system uses the latest version of the Sayyad 4B solid-fuel surface-to-air missile to enhance interception capabilities. With extended range, Bawar-373 is capable of detecting 100 targets, tracking 60 targets at the same time, and attacking 6 targets at the same time.

A standard Bavar-373 complex includes a vertical launch system, 2 detection and guidance radars, Sayyad-4 missiles and a command and control center.

The Bavar-373 was launched in August 2019, and is in service with the Iranian armed forces. Even Bavar-373 is considered comparable to Russia’s S-300 missile defense system.

According to Caspian News, during the parade, Iran also showcased domestic low-altitude air defense systems such as Majid and Zulfiqar, along with the Damavand long-range air defense missile system, and the Khatam artillery fire control system.

Dozens of types of UAVs used for reconnaissance and combat missions such as Kaman-22 or Mohajer-6, along with tanks, air defense batteries, and various types of electronic warfare systems were also introduced at the event. .

Iran’s display of advanced weapons is said to be a clear message about its readiness to respond to threats in the region, especially from Israel.

Over the weekend, Tehran launched hundreds of UAVs and missiles at Israel in retaliation for Israel’s airstrike on Iran’s embassy in Damascus. According to Israel, the attack caused only minor damage, because the US and Western countries helped the country intercept most of Iran’s weapons.
