“I’m sad to finally raise my head a little, but I still think it’s a good thing.”

Five hundred and fifty days have passed since the disaster occurred.

The grieving families threw themselves onto the asphalt both last summer when it rained a lot and last winter when it snowed.

Finally, I visited the National Assembly again to see whether the Itaewon Special Law had indeed been passed.

″I declare that it has been approved.″

The special bill, agreed by the government and opposition parties and presented today, was approved with 256 votes in favor and 3 abstentions.

At the moment I had been waiting for for so long, the tears fell again.

Each of the grieving families wiped their eyes, held hands and shared their joy.

«I go to my son every week. Every time I went to the ossuary I felt like a liar. I think I will mom. Give it to me next time, give it to me next time…”

″I had mixed feelings. It’s so hard to come for 1 year and 6 months just to do those 10 minutes…”

Once the Itaewon Special Law is promulgated, the process of forming a special investigation commission will begin immediately.

The president determines the president through consultation between the governing and opposition parties, and the governing and opposition parties each recommend four members, for a total of nine members.

The fact-finding activities can be conducted for a maximum of one year, and the period of activity can be extended up to three months.

It took five hundred and fifty days to take one step.

Grieving families say it’s time to start again.

“I hope that the government and the National Assembly faithfully fulfill their role so that there are no further delays in the process…”
