It’s rare that near Tet, the price of pork in the supermarket is cheaper than at the market

Central Retail’s supermarket system also launched a pork festival program to stabilize the market for essential goods during the Lunar New Year. This program applies at GO!, Big C, Tops Market supermarkets nationwide, lasting until January 24, applicable to about 40 key fresh pork products.

Specifically, at supermarkets GO!, Big C, Tops Market in the North, the price of CP VietGAP pork belly decreased to 139,000 VND/kg; Shoulder and thigh meat costs 99,000 VND/kg; Boneless ham 125,000 VND/kg, ground pork 89,000 VND/kg.

Vissan pork brand offers 10-20% discount on some pork products until January 31. Small traders selling pork at the market said that in recent days, the price of live pigs has increased quite sharply, so the price of pork in the market has also been adjusted to increase accordingly.

Currently, the price of live pigs in the Northern region has increased to 56,000-58,000 VND/kg. The price of live pigs in the Central, Central Highlands and Southern regions ranges from 50,000 to 56,000 VND/kg.

The upward trend in live pig prices is forecast to continue, because supply is low compared to peak demand during the Lunar New Year season.

In addition to the price of live pigs in the free market, some businesses in the livestock sector continue to increase the selling price of live pigs to 55,000-58,500 VND/kg, depending on the region.
