Jeff Thomson says Jasprit Bumrah will retire soon

Sydney: A bowler who can bowl in a different action like Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah may not have a great career because of the same action, says former Australian all-rounder Jeff Thomson. Thomson also says that the player will soon retire without having a great career due to injuries.

‘Bumrah is taking an overload now. He is bound to get injured as he plays every format. It is up to him to decide what to do next. Viewers want him to play white ball cricket. Everyone who comes to the stadium to watch him bowl white ball cricket’.

“He has to bowl 15 overs a day in Test cricket. Bumrah has to decide which formats to play to extend his career. With World Cups happening every year, whiteball formats are no less important’.

“In a player’s career, there is only a decade when you can bowl that well. So more than emotion, you have to make a decision based on what it will do for you and the country,” Thompson said.
