Jammu & Kashmir Bank has taken a significant step in strengthening its leadership structure by reintroducing the Chief General Manager (CGM) position, a senior management level absent for over two decades. This strategic move sees Sunit kumar, former Divisional Head (Jammu), and Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat, who led the Bank’s Strategy & IT Vertical, elevated to this prestigious rank. Both officers, who commenced their careers as probationary officers in 1989, bring a wealth of operational and strategic experience spanning several decades.

The elevation of Kumar and Bhat to CGM signifies the Bank’s commitment to robust succession planning and empowering its senior leadership. Strategic Rationale Behind the Reintroduction

A Wave of Promotions Across Cadres
Along with the CGM elevations, J&K Bank has also promoted nine Deputy General Managers (DGMs) to the position of general Manager (GM). These newly appointed GMs include Tariq Ali, Khursheed muzaffar, Arshad Qadri, Rakesh Magotra, Ajay Kohli, Ashok Gupta, Nishikant Sharma, Mohammad Muzaffar Wani, and altaf Hussain Kira.
These promotions are part of a comprehensive drive over the past four months to recognize internal talent and align growth with merit. The Bank has facilitated promotions across various cadres, demonstrating its commitment to employee development and career progression.
Key Promotions in Recent Months:
AGMs to DGMs: 14 Assistant General Managers (AGMs) have been promoted to Deputy General Managers (dgms).
Chief Managers to AGMs: 41 chief Managers have been elevated to Assistant General Managers (agms).
Senior Managers to Chief Managers: 36 senior Managers have been promoted to Chief Managers.
Managers to Senior Managers: A significant number of 392 Managers have been promoted to Senior Manager roles.
* Assistant Managers to Managers: 752 Assistant Managers have been promoted to the Manager level.
Furthermore, the Bank is actively working to fill assessed vacancies through a Fast Track route for Manager and Chief Manager cadres, with an online examination already conducted. Promotions within the workmen cadre are also in the pipeline, reflecting a holistic approach to talent management and organizational development.
