June Space Missions: spacex Starlink, China Launches, and More

The space industry is gearing up for a busy June, with several key missions on the horizon. While the spring season was packed, the summer is starting at a more measured pace. SpaceX is set to continue its active launch schedule with multiple Falcon 9 missions, focusing on Starlink deployments and a private astronaut mission to the International Space Station (ISS). China also plans to expand its satellite network with two Long March rocket launches.
SpaceX will launch three Starlink missions in swift succession. The first, carrying Starlink v2-mini satellites, is scheduled for June 2 from Cape Canaveral Space Force Base in Florida. A second Falcon 9 will launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California on June 3, carrying more Starlink satellites. A third Starlink launch is planned for June 8,also from Vandenberg.
Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4), a private crewed mission to the ISS operated by Axiom Space, is scheduled to launch on June 8, following a delay. The mission will transport four astronauts, including former NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson, who will command her second private spaceflight.Shubhanshu Shukla, ESA astronaut Sławomir Uznański, and Tibor Kapu will also be on board. Shukla is set to become the first Indian astronaut to visit the ISS.
Japan is preparing to launch an Earth-observing satellite no earlier than june 23 from the Tanegashima Space Center.This mission, a collaboration between several Japanese agencies, will also mark the final flight of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ H-2A rocket.
SpaceX is also expected to conduct the 10th orbital test of its Starship vehicle in June.Elon Musk has indicated that the next three tests would be scheduled about three to four weeks apart.
China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) has two Long March missions planned for June. These launches will deliver interaction satellites into low-Earth orbit as part of China’s expanding space infrastructure.

Looking ahead, Sierra Space is preparing for the first launch of its reusable Dream Chaser spaceplane to the ISS, though the exact date remains to be steadfast. The spaceplane will launch aboard a ULA Vulcan Centaur rocket from Cape Canaveral, marking the first time a winged commercial spacecraft visits the space station.
