The highly anticipated “Kagoshima National Athletic Meet” high school baseball tournament, originally scheduled for the 8th, has been postponed to the 9th due to inclement weather. The tournament, featuring four first-round games, including a clash between Kamimura Gakuen from Kagoshima, has attracted a large following.

The tournament was set to take place at Lease Heiwa Stadium in Kagoshima City, with four thrilling games lined up for the first round. However, an early morning announcement on the 8th revealed that the event had to be rescheduled due to heavy rain.

Signs were promptly put up on reception tents and various locations around the stadium, informing disappointed spectators, “There will be no hardball baseball game today.”

One man in his forties, who traveled from Kanoya City with his daughter to attend the tournament, expressed his disappointment, saying, “I woke up at 4 am and left home at 5 am. It’s a shame.”

Even an eight-year-old girl shared her disappointment, saying, “I was really looking forward to watching Kamimura Gakuen win.”

Akito Yamauchi, chairman of the Kagoshima Prefecture High School Baseball Federation, expressed optimism in the face of the setback, stating, “I trust that the players will continue to give their best starting tomorrow. We appreciate your unwavering support.”

For those who purchased admission tickets, refunds will be available from the 10th to the 24th of this month at any FamilyMart store where the tickets were issued.

The four postponed first-round games are now expected to take place on the 9th, setting the stage for intense competition.

The first match will feature a face-off between Kagoshima’s Kamimura Gakuen and Hokkaido High School from Hokkaido. The second match will see Sendai Ikuei Miyagi High School competing against Keio Kanagawa High School. In the third match, Riseisha Osaka High School will battle against Hanamaki Higashi Iwate High School. Finally, the fourth game will showcase Okayama’s Sanyo High School competing against Tsuchiura Nihon University High School from Ibaraki.

Due to the rescheduling, the semi-finals, originally planned for the 9th, will now take place on the 10th. Notably, the scheduled rest day after the semi-finals has been cancelled, and the finals are currently set to be held on the 11th of this month.

However, there are concerns about the weather in Kagoshima City on the 9th, with rain predicted followed by sunny intervals. According to the Kagoshima City Executive Committee, further alterations to the high school baseball game schedule may be necessary depending on weather conditions.
