Kangana’s Film Tejas Faces Box Office Failure and Gets Shelved

Tejas, Kangana Ranaut’s Film, Faces Setback as Theaters Pull the Plug

The highly anticipated film Tejas, starring Kangana Ranaut, has been abruptly shelved in several theaters across the country. The decision came after a significant decline in audience turnout, leading to potential financial losses for the theater owners. Even on the much-awaited Sunday, which was a public holiday, only a meager 10-12 people turned up to watch the film, whereas not a single ticket was sold on Monday.

The Bihar Film Exhibitors Association expressed their bewilderment over the sudden lack of interest among the audience for Tejas. Despite extensive marketing efforts and special promotions, the reasons behind the film’s rejection remain unclear. However, some technical issues, as mentioned by VF, might have contributed to the declining popularity of the film. VF further emphasized that the size and scale of Tejas weren’t significant but failed to anticipate such a negative response from the viewers.

In an attempt to salvage the film’s prospects, Kangana Ranaut herself reached out to the audience, urging them to support Tejas by watching it in theaters. She highlighted the challenges faced by theaters even prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, which have only exacerbated post-COVID. Various incentives like free tickets and attractive offers have failed to attract audiences, echoing the need for people to patronize cinemas along with their families to ensure the survival of the industry.

Tejas, despite having high expectations, is poised to become one of the major box office disasters of the year. Ever since its release on October 27, the film has collected a mere Rs 4.15 crore in four days. Directed and written by Sarvesh Mewara, the movie showcases Kangana Ranaut in the role of Tejas Gill, a determined fighter pilot. This isn’t the first setback Kangana has faced as her previous project, Chandramukhi 2, also failed to resonate with audiences, despite being a sequel to the popular Tamil film, Chandramukhi. Additionally, her appearance as the lead in the 2022 Hindi film Dhakad proved to be another major disappointment.

On the horizon, Kangana’s upcoming venture ‘Emergency’ will witness her portray the iconic role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi during the tumultuous period of the Emergency. Meanwhile, the actress has yet to announce any new projects, leaving fans eager for her next cinematic journey.

Kangana’s film Tejas has been shelved. After people stopped coming to watch the film, the theater owners stopped the show on Monday. Even on Sunday, people did not come to the theaters to watch Tejas. Following this, the show was stopped in several places.

Bihar Film Exhibitors Association said the reason why people are not coming to the theaters to watch Tejas is not clear. Even on a Sunday which was a public holiday, only 10-12 people came to the theaters to watch the film. But on Monday, not a single person had bought a ticket for the film. The media were then told that the morning show had been cancelled.

Tejas is not that big of a film but VF He added that there were some technical problems with X. But he also explained that he did not know that people would reject the film.

After people did not enter the theaters as expected, Kangana invited the audience to watch the film. Even before Covid, theaters faced obstacles. It has only increased after covid. From free tickets to many offers, people don’t come to the theater. I ask the audience to come to the theater with their families and enjoy the film. Otherwise the theaters will not survive,’ says Kangana.

Kangana’s Tejas promises to be the biggest disaster movie of the year. The film hit the theaters on October 27 and collected just Rs 4.15 crore in four days. Written and directed by Sarvesh Mewara, Kangana played Tejas Gill, a fighter pilot. Before this, Chandramukhi 2, in which Kangana played the lead role, was a colossal flop. This film was the second part of Chandramukhi which was an extremely popular film in Tamil. In 2022, the Hindi film Dhakad in which Kangana appeared as a heroine was also a disaster.

Kangana’s upcoming film is ‘Emergency’. Kangana will be playing the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the film based on the Emergency. Meanwhile, the actress has not announced any new films.
