Kataib Hezbollah is an organization of the Islamic Resistance, an armed group in Iraq supported by the Iranian government. It was founded in 2003 during the US-led invasion of Iraq, and was designated a terrorist organization by the US in 2009.
The Islamic Resistance, which stands in solidarity with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, has attacked US military bases in the Middle East more than 150 times since the start of the war between the Israeli-Palestinian armed faction Hamas on October 7 last year.
Although Kataib Hezbollah announced on the same day that there would be no more attacks on US forces, a spokesman for the US Department of Defense reacted in disbelief, saying, “Actions speak louder than words.”
