Former glamour model Katie Price told Lewes Crown Court that her terminally ill mother Amy has just days left to live, impacting her schedule in ongoing legal proceedings. The 74-year-old mother suffers from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, a rare condition that causes irreversible scarring of the lung’s air sacs, according to reporting by thesun.ie.
Severe Health Status Revealed
Price revealed the severe status of her mother’s health while taking the witness stand at the trial of her ex-husband Kieran Hayler. As reported by thesun.ie, Price stated on the stand: My mum’s dying at the moment and I haven’t been able to see her (because) I’ve got a cold… she’s got days. I did promise my mum I’d see her tomorrow.
Amy previously underwent a lifesaving lung transplant in 2023 after drifting into a coma and nearing death, following her initial 2017 diagnosis with the rare lung condition.
Legal Defense And Cross-Examination
During the court proceedings, Hayler’s lawyer, Arlette Piercy, questioned Price regarding her public statements, including her autobiographical Sky documentary Katie Price: Nothing to Hide. Ms. Piercy suggested that Price harbored an ongoing vendetta against Hayler, pointing to comments made in the television series about revenge. Price disputed this characterization, maintaining that her split from Hayler was amicable and that she held no venom toward him, noting that statements made for television represent her public work rather than personal malice, thesun.ie reported.
Hayler, 39, faces three counts of rape and one count of sexual assault against a complainant who was a schoolgirl at the time of the alleged incidents in West Sussex. The defendant has denied all charges against him. The complainant, now 23 years old, reported the allegations to the NSPCC in 2021, leading to police interviews with both the complainant and Hayler, according to thesun.ie. Meanwhile, mirror.co.uk noted that the trial continues with Price scheduled to return to court following her planned hospital visit to see her mother.
