KBL announced on the 22nd that “The KGC Ginseng Corporation Cheong Kwan Jang Pro Basketball All-Star Game for the 2021-2022 season will be held on January 16, 2022 at the Daegu Gymnasium, the home stadium of the new Korea Gas Corporation.” This is the first All-Star Game in two years, and the 2020-2021 season has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Daegu Gymnasium is the stadium Orion used during his time in Daegu before moving his hometown to Goyang. However, this is the first All-Star game in Daegu. In non-metropolitan regions, it is the fourth All-Star Game to be held after Ulsan in the 2006-2007 season, Busan in the 2016-2017 season, and Changwon in the 2018-2019 season.

KBL said, “Through the All-Star Game, we expect to create a basketball boom in the Daegu area, which has a professional basketball team for the first time in 10 years with the establishment of Korea Gas Corporation, and lay a foothold to expand the base. We plan to carry out online and offline promotions,” he added.

Fan voting to select stars for the All-Star Game has been ongoing since the 20th. The deadline is December 16th.

In particular, in this Daegu All-Star Game, the future of Korean basketball, Yeo Jun-seok (Yongsan High), will participate in the dunk contest as an extra player. Yeo Jun-seok said, “I am honored and excited just to be able to participate in the feast of the stars. I am practicing hard to show a wonderful image.”
