KBS “Tokyo Paralympic Games broadcast, organized as the largest ever Summer Olympics”

KBS announced on the 20th that it has organized the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games broadcast in the largest scale ever in the history of the Summer Paralympic Games. The Paralympic Games will start on the 24th and run until the 5th of next month.

KBS allocated 1560 minutes including the live broadcast of the opening ceremony at 8 pm on the 24th for this Paralympic Games, and explained that it is the only domestic broadcaster to send a broadcast production team to Tokyo. The game commentary will be provided by a commentator specialized in sports for the disabled.

MBC and SBS will also broadcast the opening ceremony live on the 24th. SBS announced that it will broadcast match highlights on Saturday late at night and will provide sign language interpretation for all broadcasts. An MBC official said that the game will be broadcast during the afternoon on weekdays and late at night on weekends, and all broadcasts will be translated into sign language.

The Paralympic Games will be held in 22 sports and 539 sub-sports. In Korea, 150 athletes will participate in 14 sports, including table tennis, badminton, archery, athletics, boccia, swimming, taekwondo, and wheelchair basketball.
