Golden Jubilee for Kerala Football Team’s first victory to win the Santosh Trophy title. On December 27, 1973, Kerala’s first title was won at the Ernakulam Maharaja’s College grounds.
In front of their home crowd, Kerala won the title by defeating three-time winners Railways by two goals to three in the final.
Captain TKS Mani’s hat-trick was notable in the final. Mani also achieved the rare feat in Santosh Trophy history of lifting a captain’s trophy by taking a hat-trick at home in front of his home crowd.
