Kesha Oayda has been crowned the winner of Australian Idol 2026, marking a historical milestone for the competition as the first female singer to win the title in 19 years.

The 21-year-old from Jindabyne was announced as the winner on April 14, 2026, by hosts Ricki-Lee and Scott Tweedie. The result followed a public vote in which more than one million votes were cast across the top three finalists.

The Grand Finale and Competition Results

The two-part grand finale featured the competition’s top three contestants: Oayda, 18-year-old Harlan Goode from Brisbane, and 23-year-old Kalani Atis from the NSW Central Coast.

The finale began with the top three, supported by members of the top 12, performing I Love You Always and Forever by Donna Lewis. Following solo performances, Kalani Atis was the first to be eliminated after receiving the fewest votes.

Upon Atis’s departure, judge Amy Shark praised the Central Coast tradie, stating: You’re the reason I love this show. A tradie from Central Coast is just out there with that magic voice, it really is magic.

Prize Package and Career Opportunities

As the Australian Idol 2026 winner, Oayda receives a comprehensive prize package designed to launch her professional music career. The rewards include:

Prize Package and Career Opportunities
  • $100,000 in prize money
  • An exclusive recording package with Hive Sound Studios
  • Attendance at a songwriting camp with Sony Music Publishing
  • Marketing and social media support provided by The Annex
  • VIP tickets to the ARIA Awards and the TV WEEK Logie Awards

Personal Journey and Reflections

Oayda expressed deep gratitude to her support system, specifically mentioning her hometown of Jindabyne and her father, Nolen. Nolen previously appeared on the Idol stage with her during the show’s Heroes and Tributes week.

The Idol experience has been nothing short of life-changing. This is unforgettable. I need 50 billion people to pinch me to wake up from whatever dream this is. I feel like I have grown so much since my audition.

Kesha Oayda

The victory concludes the 2026 season, establishing Oayda as the nation’s best singer according to the public vote.
