Kim Woo Bin Unleashes a Daring New Look: Blonde and Bolder Than Ever in Netflix’s “Martial Arts Officer
Kim Woo Bin’s Drastic Image Change in “Martial Arts Officer” Captivates Viewers
Actor Kim Woo Bin has undergone a drastic image change through his latest role in the Netflix film ”Martial Arts Officer”. For the first time since his debut, he has bleached his hair and gained 8kg, captivating viewers with his new look.
The film is an action comedy about the story of Lee Jeong-do (Kim Woo-bin), a martial arts practitioner with a total of 9th dan in taekwondo, kendo, and judo, who becomes a “martial arts practitioner” by monitoring electronic ankle bracelet recipients 24 hours a day to prevent crimes at the suggestion of probation officer Kim Sung-min (Kim Sung-kyun). The film is directed by Kim Ju-hwan, who directed the films “Midnight Runners” (2017), ”Divine Fury” (2019), and the Netflix series “Bloodhound” (2023).

Kim Woo Bin revealed, “I was so excited that I couldn’t sleep much because it’s the day I can show the movie that we worked so hard and had fun filming.” He then went on to explain why he decided to appear in the drama, saying, “It was an occupation I was unfamiliar with, so it was intriguing. It was interesting to see how Lee Jeong-do, who had only pursued what he loved, changed after finding a new occupation and feeling the joy and sense of mission in his work. I wanted to convey the emotions I felt to the viewers.”
Kim Woo Bin will show off a new side of himself as Lee Jeong Do, a martial arts officer who has a total of nine dans in Taekwondo, Kendo, and Judo. Lee Jeong Do has always thought that having fun is the most important thing in life, but as he works to protect the happiness of others, he gradually changes.
He gained 8kg for the role, tried blonde hair for the first time since his debut, and also studied taekwondo, judo, and kendo at the same time, practicing action scenes with a martial arts director to coordinate their movements.

He said, “I gained weight because I wanted to give the impression that I have a good physique and can dominate my opponents, even at a glance. I love exercise and I’m a person who pursues fun, so I thought it would be better to have a fleshy body and a puffy face, rather than a sculpted body. I deliberately didn’t lose any weight when I went to the set, so that people would see a new side of me. I also bleached my hair, wanting to show a new side of me. I lose more weight and change my hairstyle as the story progresses.”
To better understand the character, he visited the Suwon Probation Office with Kim Sung-kyun to learn about the work of a probation officer and a martial arts practitioner and heard real stories from current employees.
Regarding this, he said, “I learned about the profession of martial arts officer for the first time. I met with Sung-gyun, the martial arts officers, and the probation officers, and I realized that I didn’t know about them, even though they are doing a difficult and honorable job. I approached the filming with a feeling of gratitude.”
Kim Sung-kyun plays Kim Sung-min, a probation officer who works in pairs with a martial arts practitioner. Kim Sung-min is a probation officer who strives to create a safe society. He has a warm and gentle personality, but is more cautious than anyone else when it comes to his work and has a strong sense of mission.

He will be taking on the role of Kim Sung-min himself, adding a sense of depth to the drama. He explained about his character, “He is a good person who will be a good older brother and mentor to Lee Jeong-do. He is a warm person both inside and out, so I focused on the human side of him.”
He then went on to explain why he decided to appear in the film, saying, “I was curious to see how director Kim Ju-hwan would portray the action scenes. I also had a desire to work with Kim Woo-bin. Woo-bin is slim and tall, and his martial arts had a striking and intimidating feel. It was a martial arts with a new feel to it.”

Regarding this film, which depicts the never-before-seen story of a martial arts practitioner and a probation officer in a serious and dynamic way, director Kim Ju-hwan said, “When I was preparing for this film, I thought that the world is becoming less and less considerate, so I thought a lot about whether it is possible to do something good for someone. Through this film, I wanted to show that it is possible to do something good for someone. I hope you enjoy it as it mixes together various genres.”
when asked about the highlights of the film, Kim Woo-bin said, “The two characters don’t seem to get along well, but they actually suit each other well. They naturally read each other’s minds and act accordingly,” and Kim Sung-kyun said, “I’m sure this will be a production that will live up to your expectations. I ask for your support.”
The Netflix film “Martial Arts Officer” will be available on Netflix on September 13th.
