[아시아경제 윤슬기 기자] Former figure skater Yuna Kim, appointed as the ambassador for the ‘2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympics’, spoke about the controversy over the biased judgment of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

Kim Yu-na appeared on SBS ‘Young-jin Joo’s News Briefing’ broadcast on the 23rd and said, “There is a spirit of sports that athletes and people who love sports know and believe in. “I can and I can empathize with,” he said. She said that she hoped that the ‘2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games’ would be a competition where you can feel the spirit of sports.

About the ‘2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games,’ said Yuna Kim, “It is a world-class competition hosted by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) where young people participate, and the Winter Games started in Innsbruck, Austria in 2012. Competition is competitive because players participate, but there is a difference in that they are more harmonious with each other and put more importance on activities such as cultural and educational programs,” he explained.

Yuna Kim also revealed how she got into figure skating. He said, “At first, I started as a hobby. I was only doing it for fun with my sister during vacation, but a teacher suggested that I try as an athlete because I have a unique talent. From then on, I started walking the path of an athlete. I was 7 years old in Korean age.” said

Then, Kim Yu-na said, “I started at a very young age and rode it with joy without knowing how difficult it was. As I got older, I had a lot of difficulties both physically and psychologically. I also thought, ‘Why should I start this and have a hard life? There were a lot of injuries. This was repeated. I trained while crying every day.” He said, “The athletes participating in the Youth Olympics must be around that time.

Yuna Kim also evaluated her junior players that she seems to be maintaining good skills. Kim Yu-na said, “I was worried that the conditions would be difficult to achieve good results compared to the players from powerful countries. They were players who had to train abroad, but the training environment would not have been good because they were only staying in Korea due to Corona.” It’s not easy to do everything you can, but I thought you were worrying for nothing.”
